The essentials

ICICI Bank FD returns: monthly interest, senior citizen rates and comparison

Monthly interest on an ICICI Bank FD

With a monthly payout ICICI Bank FD at the 1-year rate of 6.25%, interest is about ₹521 a month on ₹1 lakh, ₹2,604 on ₹5 lakh and ₹5,208 on ₹10 lakh, before tax. Banks usually pay monthly interest at a slightly discounted rate, so treat these as close estimates. Switch the calculator to Monthly income mode to see the post-tax figure. Payout deposits earn less in total than cumulative ones, because the interest is paid out instead of compounding.

ICICI Bank FD for senior citizens

No premium below 185 days; 0.50% above the general rate from 185 days (0.60% on 3 years 1 day to 5 years). Tick "Senior citizen" in the calculator and it loads the senior rate for the tenure you pick. For example, ₹10 lakh for 5 years at 7.10% grows to about ₹14.22 lakh. Senior citizens under the old tax regime can also claim the 80TTB deduction on up to ₹50,000 of interest a year, and can submit Form 15H to avoid TDS if their total income is below the taxable limit.

What is the penalty for breaking an ICICI Bank FD early?
ICICI Bank's rule: 0.50% if the deposit has run less than 1 year; 1.00% if it has run 1 year or more. Is an ICICI Bank FD safe?
Deposits at ICICI Bank are covered by DICGC insurance up to ₹5 lakh per depositor, principal and interest combined. Amounts above that are not insured, so larger sums are often split across banks.
